About Helmly Wellness

Helmly Wellness is a therapy practice in Maryland specializing in counseling for ambitious, high-achieving women. We help women trapped in cycles of perfectionism, people-pleasing, or complex trauma to tune out the noise and reconnect with themselves. With modality expertise in DBT, Psychodynamic, and Emotion-Focused Therapy, we help patients with the right treatment for their goals.

Radical Care Is Our Revolution

We’re building a therapy practice that refuses to accept burnout as the norm. To us, radical care is showing up grounded and present—for you and for ourselves. We do this by prioritizing:

Clinician Care

We do the work from the inside out, nurturing and supporting our clinicians first. From this place of fullness, they can pour into others and provide the highest quality of care.

Humanness

We believe true healing begins when we recognize and embrace the human within—honoring the full spectrum of our experiences, emotions, and identities.

Quality

We keep caseloads low so we can give every client the attention they deserve. By prioritizing quality over quantity, we create space to be fully present and offer thoughtful, personalized care at every step.

The Spark Behind Helmly Wellness: Minjee’s Story

From one high-achieving professional to another:
Hello, and welcome

Minjee Kim at desk

I was born in Korea and moved to the U.S. at age eight. Like many immigrant kids, I struggled to fit in and balance my new identity as an Asian and American. As I got older and tried therapy, it was hard to find a therapist I could connect with.

After college, I finally found a Korean therapist who understood me and spoke the same language, literally and figuratively! I experienced firsthand both how important culturally attuned therapy is and how rare it is to find. After experiencing this gap in mental health care, I felt compelled to become the therapist I had always needed.

My hope is that care here feels like a safe, compassionate space where you’re understood and free to reconnect with yourself. Together, let’s heal the past and create a future that’s truly yours.
